Making Waves

Today, Ivy League Connection at Brown went to the beach! We woke up early to grab breakfast and be over at our pick-up spot at 8:45 AM. We had a total of four buses for all of the Pre-College students! The ride was much more comfortable and relaxed in these buses than the ones we had taken the day before. Nonetheless, the drive was still long and dreary.

Upon arrival to Scarborough Beach, and after being briefed by our RAs, we immediately scoped out a spot to set our things down. It was cooler than expected, but the sun was still shining intensely. We made sure to put on a lot of sunscreen before going about our day.

The rest of our time there was comprised of relaxing under the sun or playing around in the freezing water. It was wonderful to finally get some down time after moving around and working so much. Today felt like we really were able to simply sit around and enjoy each other's company. In fact, we wound up sharing a few aspects of ourselves and our lives, thus getting to know each other better.

We were all beat when we finally got back to Brown. Dinner was eaten and then people went off on their own to wind down for the rest of the day. I did some laundry, went to talk to my TA about the final project, and then worked on a few other things.

Tomorrow will be the fourth of July, and I'm sure there will be plenty of things to write about.

  1. It’s 60ยบ here in Richmond today--not exactly beach weather.

It is, however, perfect barbecue weather. Me being a bachelor, every day has perfect barbecue weather.
